Priestly and Jen's apartment, Santa Cruz, Sunday night

Priestly had been in a mood all day. Zo hadn't had any ideas, so he was stuck sitting on the couch, staring at his phone, willing someone from Fandom to call and tell him everything was okay.

Jen had tried doing some searches online, but hadn't turned up anything. After awhile, she just gave him a sad smile and headed off to her room to give him some space.

Wincing, Dinah said, "Well. It's more like-- everything in between my phone and yours turned into rainbows and puppies?" She paused. "From, you know a certain angle, and there were dogs. I'm sure they're nice to whoever owned them originally."

That didn't bode well. Priestly thumped back down onto the couch. "Is everyone okay?"

"Yes," Dinah said instantly. "Well. Traumatized, a little, but that's normal. And some people got hurt, but from what I saw the medic types are handling it fine. I didn't get hurt, Momoko didn't, Francine just got back in one piece -- it's all good." She sighed. "The whateveritis under the island *broke* for a while."

"It broke? Like, the thing that makes Fandom Fandom broke. It can do that?"

Priestly wasn't feeling any better with that news.

"Apparently." Dinah sighed, and leaned her head back against her bed, Camille in her lap. "All these bits and pieces of other worlds were bleeding into the island for a while. The first I knew of it was finding Taste of Thai just gone. Poof." She grimaced. "This sounds worse than it was...." Maybe?

"Things were disappearing?! Dinah!" Priestly rubbed his nose. "Wait, Francine got back from where?"

She was kind of telling this backwards, wasn't she?

"I don't know, but all she had to eat there was Spam, and someone hit her on the head," Dinah admitted. "And people disappeared, as well as things. I was here the whole time, patrolling and worrying."

"People were disappearing. And you went out in the middle of it." Of course she had. "I might have to kidnap all of you and drag you out to live here instead."

"I could live with that," Dinah said wistfully. "At least for a while." She paused and asked, "Um, if I came for a visit in three weeks, would you and Jen be cool with me staying the weekend?"

"Should be. Hang on." Priestly pulled the phone away from his mouth to call the question to Jen, only to find her leaning out the door, watching him. He smiled. "She's okay. Wants to know if she can come visit in three weeks."

Jen nodded. "Don't see why not."

Priestly pulled the phone back up. "Yeah, that'd be cool. Jen says hi. She was worried, too."

"Tell her how you burned brunch this morning."

"Shut up, Jen!"

"You burned food?" Dinah said in horrified tones. "Dude!"

"I was worried!" Priestly protested. "It was like Fandom didn't even exist any more!"

"Awwwwwwwww." Dinah wanted to give him a long-distance hug. "I am so, so, so sorry for worrying you. But we're back. We're all back and okay."

"Yeah, well, don't do it again." 'Cause she'd totally have control over that."

"I leave here in ... 19 days. And I'm spending next weekend or the weekend after that in El Paso with Jaime and Momoko and Didi, I think," Dinah said comfortingly. "Not a lot of time left to do this again. I swear."

"Good. Now I just have to worry about everyone else still on the island."

"Well, yeah," Dinah admitted. "But you'll have company. I'll be right there with you, obsessively dialing away, until everyone I know graduates." She pouted. "... and okay, beyond that too."

"Yeah. Fandom's kind of not the place you leave behind easy, is it."

"It's really not." Dinah sighed, then asked, "So living with Jen, it's working out cool? In spite of teasing over stuff that gets burned?"

Priestly smiled. "Hey Jen, we working out as roommates?"

"No!" called Jen. "I hate him!"

"Yeah, we're good."

Dinah chuckled, grinning. "Awesome." A yawn ambushed her. "Awuugh... So not cool. I wish you were here so I could hug you. Except for how that would mean you'd spent the last four days scared and hungry and now in need of a shower, probably."

"Yeah, but I could be making food for people right now if I was there."

"Priestly, you don't have to feed everyone!"

"Fine, you can make dinner tomorrow night!" Priestly shook his head. "You sound like you're gonna fall over, Dinah. Get some sleep."

"'kaaay," Dinah agreed, giggling over Jen and Priestly's argument. "Love you, Priestly. Don't worry. Tell Jen I said 'hey' and I'll bring her a T-shirt. I'll see you in three weeks."

"I'll hunt you down if I don't. Take care of yourself, okay?"

"You too. Don't you get hurt in some freak surfing or skateboarding accident before I get there." Dinah yawned again. "Okay, seriously, stupid body... night, Priestly!"

"Night, Dinah." Priestly hung up and spent a moment looking at the phone. He looked back up at Jen, who was watching him curiously.

"You normal now?" she asked.

"Who, me?"

"What'd she say?"

"She's gonna bring you a t-shirt."

"Your friends are weird."

"That's why I love you."
