Loft above Luke's, Tuesday evening

"For the last time, Stevesie," Priestly said, scooping the red panda off the kitchen island counter. "No red pandas on the counters. Or green ones. Or any other color the island might decide to turn you to thwart me."

Stevesie looked unimpressed, and immediately started scaling his way back up the counter, after the bowlfuls of sliced pear and crumbled topping.

"I can't make a pie if you eat all the ingredients first," Priestly pointed out, bodily blocking the red panda's route. "Go bother Dean or something."

"Right, so we've got pagan harvest gods for vegetable, and animal is easy. What kind of minerals you have to fight?"

"Demons." See, he was prepared now. "They leave behind sulfur when they're around."

"Yeah, but are they made of sulfur?" Okay, now he was just being a brat. "Alright, how do you fight a demon?"

Dean flipped him off. "Holy water, exorcisms, salt... there are ways."

"Salt."

Sorry, Dean. That one got you a deeply skeptical look.

"It's a natural purifier," Dean shot back. "Like fire. Old shit."

"What kind of salt?" Priestly asked. "Sea salt? Kosher? Do bath salts work?"

"If it's salt, it works," Dean replied, picking up one of the shotgun shells. "Works on ghosts too."

"You shoot ghosts," Priestly said. "With salt." He shook his head. "I mean, I know it's basically magic in cooking, but so is balsamic vinegar. Which I'm guessing doesn't do anything but make ghosts and demons hungry."

Priestly nudged the corner of the rug up. He hadn't even noticed that one!

"And the demons? Horns and a tail?" Look, hope sprung eternal, okay?

"I'm guessing you don't mean like Lady Gaga's meat dress. Also, ew."

Priestly shook his head with a long suffering sigh. "Whatever, dude. So at least I apparently don't have to worry about you showing up all demoned up."
