Loft above Luke's, Sunday evening after the fans leave

As the fans' power sources were removed and they were escorted off the island, the slew of machines going *PING!* in Priestly's apartment vanished without a trace. Priestly's shirt reappeared, and his comma coma lapsed into regular sleep.

Up to and including Priestly's usual faint snuffling and mumbling, and him rolling over to snuggle deeper into his pillow.

Really, he'd always preferred sleeping on his stomach or side.

"She was a fan," Priestly said. He knew that much, anyway. "She and some of her friends apparently watch us as a tv show in some universe? This one was talking about how she shipped me and Dean or me and the mayor, and -- FUCK."

Priestly beat his head into his pillow.

Dinah's jaw dropped. She made fish-faces for a second. "Nuh-unh!"

"Sometimes, when a fanfic writer really wants to hook up Lt. Tawny and Tech Sergeant Fred, they turn Taggert into a raging asshole. I mean, it's not hard, because Taggert kind of already is an asshole, but still, that way, no one argues when Tawny dumps him for sweet, kind, stoner Fred."

Which . . . did that mean that shippers of whatever the fuck TV show was modeled on Fandom already thought of Priestly and Dinah as a foregone conclusion?

Dinah's forays into fanfic had been of the 'erotica' version, and a few longer epics that had to do with superheroes. Nothing of this genre. And now she was glad of it.

Spluttering, she said, "But that's, that's, -- I don't even know what that is, except pathetic! And... oh my god, someone out there wants me back together with Jak?" Or thought she was already with Priestly? Meep.

"I don't know how the hell they would do it, but if the trope fits. . . ." He shook his head. He was getting a headache again. "I always hated those fics."

Dinah tried to process all that, and realized that the whole astronauts vs. cavemen thing was an internet trope too. "Nnnngh." She rubbed at her eyes and then looked at Priestly. "Drinking. So. Much. Drinking."

"The world's hottest shower," Priestly said. "And drinking."

"Fair." Dinah looked thoughtful. "We're good, though, right?"

Usually she wouldn't even have to ask, but. God, this had been a weird one. And she was pretty sure Priestly wouldn't be able to bring himself to ask.

"Dunno," Priestly said. "Do you need to beat me over the head with a pillow some more. Or punch me in the face."

A beat.

"Please punch me in the face."

Dinah snorted, and grabbed his jaw, shaking it from side to side. "This face? How could I hurt this face?... well, I could if Dean were attached to it, 'cause sometimes he needs smacking. But I think we missed our window of asshole-ish opportunity there, champ." She booped his nose. "We're good."

Priestly pouted at her. Which was really just further proof that the event was over, because if it were still going it, it'd be a sexy manly scowl.

Dinah pouted mockingly back, and bounced off the bed. "Go shower. I'll start the mojitos and guacamole."

"Can't I just have an entire bottle of liquor?" Priestly requested. He was tempted to pull the covers up over his head again. "And possibly a copy of the Feminine Mystique."
