Priestly's apartment in New Gotham, Wednesday night

"Okay," Mark said, sipping his beer. "But she's not your girlfriend?"

Priestly shook his head. "How is this so hard for people to understand?" he asked Tia. She shrugged, smirking.

"So she's available?" Mark asked.

"Don't rebound with a girl, Mark," Tia said. "You should date a guy, next."

Mark sighed and went back to sipping his beer.

Priestly cleared his throat, and showed her the ID bracelet, eyes rolling skyward.

Dinah facepalmed. "Don't let Tia or Mark see that," she muttered, grumbling. "We don't need any more people in that club waving flags."

"For real," Priestly agreed. "Though they're both pretty well convinced we're secretly dating already." He shook his head. "What is it with people and assuming that?"

"I don't know. I'm so happy to have you here, anything else seems like... I don't even know, superfluous?" She leaned into him, rummaging in the box and grinning at the folders and messenger bag. "I mean, it could be everyone our age is obsessed with romance? Which, it's great, but... Oo, I'm stealing your potions." Stop her, Priestly. She can get her own.

"You are not, this is my back to school present from Momo, you don't get to steal anything."

"I need them more," Dinah whined, relinquishing them without too much fight. "Also, she never sent me a back to school present. We know who the favorite is here."

"As though there were any doubt," Priestly said. "And you didn't go back to school, you just kept going to school."

"Sad but true. It's kind of weird to not be in school any more," Dinah admitted. "I mean. I graduated in May, but summer felt just like every other summer off-- except without summer classes, but hey, I only took a couple at a time. And now... Being an adult without classes is messing with me." She poked at him, picking up the kitten erasers. "Ooo, you need to call her and tell her you got this."

"Or at least send her a text," Priestly agreed. "And you know, just 'cause you're an adult with a degree doesn't mean you have to stop taking classes. You should take something completely weird and random in town. Ease your way out of school life."

"Hunh. Hmm. I could do that." She grinned, brightening a bit. "Another drama class, maybe. Or another phys ed course." She picked up one of the sushi erasers and started laughing. "You can't use these, they're too cute!"

"I'm totally using the army guy until I manage to wear his head down, though," Priestly said. "You could do drama or phys ed," he said. "Or, you know, try something completely and totally new. Take a smelting class."

"Smelting. Make my own jewelry?" Ooooo. "Or, make my own weapons! I could get Barbara to help me design them!"

"Plus, it's totally badass, physical, and dangerous, but in a brand new way."

And it involved fire! Shiny!

"I am so looking into this... I don't have more than twenty-some hours at the gym anyway, plus the contract work." Squeaking by. But she could do this. "And maybe go back to Garden of Eden. Get lessons in the tattooing like I kept wondering about." She grinned and picked up the little army guy. "Meanwhile you get to be Scholar Guy."

"You absolutely need to go back and get lessons. Maybe you could land yourself a gig there, something to help cover costs?"

"It would help." She walked Eraser Soldier over to him, humming. "It's nice to have the family safety net, but..." Well, he'd know how that went.

"Yeah, I know. It can be really nice to know you can make it on your own."

"Exactly. And I should find somewhere to learn Vietnamese, too."

Six or so years and counting until Sin could be found. Somewhere out there, she may have already been born this year.

"Gotta have goals and all." She grinned at him. "Mr. Class of 2017. Or 2016."

"Oh man, I can't even think about it like that. More like class of 'eventually, we hope'."

"Careful, or I'll tell Momoko you're worried. We know what happens then. More presents!"

Priestly laughed. "The horror, the horror!"
