Room 211, Tuesday night

Priestly was all set up for a good night of relaxing drinking with Dinah. He had the booze, some snacks, and his computer set up for some tunes.

And this time, he didn't have to worry about the other person binging too much and then spending the evening madly kissing all the girls he could talk into it.

Well, he hoped.

"Seriously! When I was, uh, her? She tried to grab a criminal in Caritas." Dinah sat down on the floor, on the theory that she wouldn't fall down if it *really* got to drinking time later. "And both she and the supervillainess in the cat-suit ended up in the pond out in the middle of town."

"So, wait, the person you hit teleports, too?"

Dinah did a little pantomime in the air, trying to remember how that happened, and said, "I think maybe she tried to hit back. Or I had a grip on her. It was very confusing," she admitted sheepishly. She peeked up to see what he was doing. "Just bamf! SPLASH!"

"Man. That's crazy. Does it happen every time?"

"I don't know. We could test it?" Dinah said, maybe a little too hopefully.

"By what?" Priestly finished mixing up a mohito and held it out. "Going over there and hitting each other?"

"Well, or find someone who wants to hit us. I don't mind ending up in the pond if it's warm out." Dinah accepted the mojito with glee and took a careful sip. "Ooo. I like that!" Aaaand another big sip.

"Go a little easy, there's a lot of rum in there." Priestly thought about this. "I don't know, I mean, that's still a lot of hitting people. Hey, maybe Arthur'll be there and I can hit him?"

Dinah slowed down a little bit, trying to hold the glass elegantly. Or not-dorkily. "Heh. You could try?" She looked wistful. "He'd probably see you coming, and then try to hit you, then end up in the pond!" Her voice rose at the end to show how much she liked this idea. Another sip. "He's teaching me stuff. He just has to be snarked at and told he's a prat sometimes."

"So he's not being too much of a dick?"

It should be noted that Priestly had actually never met Arthur.

"He's... he's...." Dinah realized that Priestly might actually get one of her comparisons, unlike Merlin, and said, "He's like that coach who *is* a jerk, but he makes sure you win when you really want to win? For you, not the team. And he'd take you home if no one showed up at the game and make sure you were okay if you got hurt. He's mostly just a prat on Wednesdays, when he's drunk with power on the Radio." Another big sip of her drink.

Priestly had actually had a coach like that, back in junior high. He considered this while sipping his own drink. "Huh. Okay, so maybe I won't hit him on sight, then."

"Yeah!" Dinah toasted that, and then took another big slurp of her mojito. "So, okay, who do I have to hit for you? Now that you and Claudia are okay?"

"How 'bout Malcolm, if he ever comes back? A knock on the head might do him some good. . . ."

"Nooo," Dinah said, finishing her drink, then holding out her glass for another. "He was so harmless! How could I hit a preppy fluffy you?"

Priestly closed his eyes and groaned. "No, please. How could you not hit preppy fluffy me?"

"Because I don't hit puppies!" Dinah protested. She made a face. "And it wasn't really you at all! You were never ever that dumb!"

"Do you have any idea how many people just assumed I was?" Priestly groaned. "God, it was like my worst nightmare come true."

"Awwwww," Dinah put her glass down, and gave him a hug. The alcohol had nothing to do with it. "But you're you again! And Claudia likes you again! And, and, did you ask her to the dance?" She gave the mojito mixings a hopeful look. "Ooo, must drink water."

"Water? You've had one drink." Priestly finished his, and patted her on the back. "Lemme get you more rum."

"'kay!" Dinah smiled and pinged her glass with a fingernail. "But you did, didn't you? She's going with you, right?"

"Yes, and yes. She's wearing a suit and I'm gonna wear my kilt."

"Cool!" Dinah grinned and bounced, looking thrilled. "I'm going shopping for a dress tomorrow, with a lot of other girls. Tony and I are going together, as buds. But I like your kilt, yay! I'm glad you're wearing it."

"You didn't wanna go with a guy as, like, a couple?"

"Noooobody asked." Dinah shrugged. "And Merlin has to make it up to Francine for being old and wearing a weird hat last weekend, and besides he likes her... and Cal has Claire and she's cool... and you've got Claudia, and..." Not getting into Leto, nope. "Sooo, buds! It'll be fun!"
