"Well, I don't know about funny, per se, but I apparently managed to pick the perfect day to spend out of town looking at schools. Apparently, there was an unfortunate confluence of random island events, last Saturday. I don't know the details, but the kitchen staff spent all of Sunday muttering about monsters and the hearing impaired."

Which would be why he didn't listen to the radio to find out the details. He was pretty sure he was just fine knowing he'd picked the right day to be in College Park.
