"I played football and wore the clothes my mom picked out for me." Priestly grimaced at the thought. "Which wasn't as bad as it coulda been, but I was definitely rocking the preppie look. Anyway. There was this kid. Nice guy, knew him since preschool, you know? Then we get to high school and suddenly everything about him is supposed to be 'wrong'. Wrong clothes, wrong friends, read the wrong books -- or any books at all. Kid was, like, tortured at my school. And one day . . . I got sick of it. Went to defend him. Next thing I know, I'm more of a pariah than he is."
