"Okay," Mark said, sipping his beer. "But she's not your girlfriend?"

Priestly shook his head. "How is this so hard for people to understand?" he asked Tia. She shrugged, smirking.

"So she's available?" Mark asked.

"Don't rebound with a girl, Mark," Tia said. "You should date a guy, next."

Mark sighed and went back to sipping his beer.

"Yeah, at least your first semester. If you don't need the money yet." She pointed a fork at him. "And remember, if money gets tight, Alfred will make sure you won't starve... oh! Momoko's got a new address, I have to pass it along to you."

"Yes you do," Priestly said. "I need to be able to run away to El Paso if things get to hairy around here."

He was joking. If things got to hairy, he'd be somewhere on the sidelines making food for the people dealing it it.

"And I know. But I don't think I'll need it. I've gotten pretty good at living by the seat of my pants, you know."

Dinah gave him a playful eyebrow-wiggle for that, and nodded, then swallowed. "We managed to catch the bad guy in El Paso, but we couldn't get the money back. But Momoko needed a new place, and Mrs. Wilson needed a boarder, so. You'd be running away to Momoko's new place at Mrs. Wilson's, and she is no one to mess with. Be sure to take food with you so she'll let you see Momo."

"Hey, all the ladies love me. Especially the ones who go by 'Mrs. Last Name'."

Dinah snickered. Because it was true.

"But yeah, you should go see her there, she'd love it." She poked at her box of food, not looking at him. "The trip to Glacia was her idea. Not sure I would've... if she hadn't ..." Yeah.

Priestly reached over and pulled her into a sideways hug. "How'd that go, by the way?"

Dinah sighed, and relaxed into the hug. "Painful. But good?" She closed her eyes, thinking about it. "There was good stuff. Ulrich is running an orphanage, which is kind of hilarious but awesome. But the rest of it..." Words, not her thing. "So many memorials. Gravestones. Flowers."

"But they're rebuilding, right? People can start putting their lives back together. You guys did that."

"Yeah. It's been two years for them, so. Some places are pretty rebuilt, some places... not so much." She settled in next to him, thinking. "Karla's doing a good job. But people are still trying to kill her. Someone sabotaged her coach right before we got there. I don't think that place is ever going to really calm down."

"It might eventually. Just, you know, maybe not in our lifetimes."

"Nope." Dinah let her head fall on his shoulder. "I think I'll always feel a little bad that I couldn't do more there, but... I couldn't. This trip kinda helped me figure that out. It wasn't just because I didn't want to. I'm not right for that place. And they do okay when I'm not there, even if it's not perfect."

"At a certain point, you gotta let people do their own thing, while you do yours."

"Yeah." Dinah thought of Karla's new secret, and smiled a little. In another week or so, maybe she'd let Dinah tell Priestly about that. "If they ever get a line on Hobart, though, I owe that guy so many kicks in the face. And other places."

"That guy is one of the few who I'd advocate stabbbing in the face."

"Ditto," Dinah sighed. "And I will if I have to. And I won't regret it much." Especially with a maybe-teeny-Kayla in the offing. "But we still need to know if he had backing from outside Glacia, and who it was." She paused. "But I bet I can make him cry a lot, oh yeah."

"Sounds fair enough." Priestly gave her another squeeze. "Are you glad you went?"

Dinah tilted her head, then nodded. "Yeah. Yeah, I am. Especially to be there for Jono and Momoko. But. For me too." She sighed and slumped closer. "Just, next time? You come with. And we skip the graves and just go straight to the harvest festivals, 'kay?"

"Sounds good. It'll just be you, me, my fifteen layers of winter clothing, and the harvest festivals."
