Priestly had his hair dye and make up spread out on the bathroom counter, a clean (though liberally dyed) towel ready, and a tiny pair of speakers hooked up to his mp3 player to blast some Ramones.

All he needed now was his latest victim Sam.

Sam had given a little bit of thought to finding Priestly before today and canceling their plans, but that would be chickening out from something that he honestly doubted would be all that scary. It helped that Priestly had the lookalike thing going for him - it was a lot harder to distrust someone who looked like Dean. He'd knocked until he was let into the cabin, and he looked around for a bit, smirking when he saw Priestly and everything he'd set up. "Wow, you really look prepared," he said.

"What can I say, man? It's an art." Priestly tossed the towel at Sam. "You're not the first student I've talked into streaks."

"Yeah, but I bet I gave you the hardest time about it," Sam said with a laugh. "What's this for?" he asked, giving the towel a little wave.

"To keep from dying your shirt. Unless you decide to strip down," Priestly made a small face at the thought, "in which case it's to keep from dying your shoulder."

"I think I'll be keeping my shirt on," Sam said, draping the towel over his shoulders. "I trust you to get the dye where it's supposed to go."

"I do what I can." Priestly dug out a tub of vaseline. "But this'll help keep your ears from going bright red, too. Now, I know you don't wanna do anything permanent, so we're really gonna have to slather this shit on there to cover up your natural color."

Sam nodded. "Maybe if--when this turns out okay, you can do something more permanent next time," he offered.

"That's the spirit, man! And then your hair won't have to be all crunchy." Priestly picked up a jar of bright red paste and a brush. "We're going for streaks, right? You want, like, just one, two in the front, little streaks all over, skunk stripe, what?"

"Can we do little streaks?" Sam asked. "I'm not sure if the skunk look will confuse my dog or not."

"Little streaks it is." Priestly looked up at Sam's head. "Uh. Maybe we should find you a chair."

"Or you a stool," Sam said, looking a little embarrassed. Stupid growth spurt.

"Or you could kneel before me." Priestly smirked, then looked around. "Okay, here, I'll sit on the counter and you stand in front of me? That should work. . . ."

"Okay, that sounds good," Sam said, getting into the right spot and bending a little for good measure. "You know, I don't know if I ever asked. How'd you get into all this stuff in the first place? Did you see a guy with a mohawk and just decide it was the coolest thing ever and you wanted to try it too?"

Priestly hopped up onto the counter and got to work, carefully using the end of the brush to tease out small sections of Sam's hair, then liberally coating them with red goop.

"Well. Sort of? I was actually all clean cut and shit until about a year ago."

Sam was trying to hold still to not mess with Priestly's work, but he looked at him the best he could. "Seriously? Are we talking only dyeing your hair natural colors, or actually clean cut?"

"I played football and wore the clothes my mom picked out for me." Priestly grimaced at the thought. "Which wasn't as bad as it coulda been, but I was definitely rocking the preppie look. Anyway. There was this kid. Nice guy, knew him since preschool, you know? Then we get to high school and suddenly everything about him is supposed to be 'wrong'. Wrong clothes, wrong friends, read the wrong books -- or any books at all. Kid was, like, tortured at my school. And one day . . . I got sick of it. Went to defend him. Next thing I know, I'm more of a pariah than he is."

"Dude, that sucks," Sam said, looking sympathetic. "I swear, people at school sucked so much sometimes before we got here. It's like a law."

"I know, right?" Priestly pulled out another strand, working quickly. "But, yeah, after that . . . well, I figure this way I can weed out the assholes a lot faster, you know? People freak out 'cause I look different and they're not worth my time."

"So, I passed the test?" Sam asked. "Even though I cling to the path of straight and narrow? Metaphorically speaking, at least."

"What kind of hypocrite would I be if I went and judged you back, man? 'Sides, you're willing to experiment, given the right persuasion. There's hope for you yet." Priestly grinned as he finished off the last streak. "Right, so this stuff basically just needs to dry a bit. You can brush it and stuff, but you get it wet and it'll wash out. You wanna try the make up?"

It took a second, but Sam smiled, and nodded. "Yeah, sure. I've come this far, right?"

"Awesome!" Priestly grabbed a tube of black liquid eyeliner. "You wanna give it a whirl, or you want me to do it for ya?"

"I'm assuming that doesn't go in my eye, and I think that's where it'll end up if I try it," Sam said nervously.

Priestly laughed. "Man, it sucks balls when that happens. Right." Priestly gestured for Sam to turn around. "We'll do the bottom lid first, 'cause it's the hardest. It okay if I put my hand on your head?"

"Yeah, that's fine," Sam said easily. "Whatever you need to do so you don't poke me in the eye either."

"No eye poking. Got it." Priestly gently put his left palm on Sam's forehead, thumb dangling above Sam's right eye. "Look up at my thumb. It'll help keep your lid nice'n flat." And give Sam something to focus on other than the thing coming at his face.

Sam did his best to relax and look where Priestly instructed. He had to admit, he was curious how this would all look in the end, enough so that he was willing to hold still and just let Priestly work.

Eyeliner went a lot faster than hair dye did, and Priestly finally pulled back and cocked his head, studying the effect.

"Dude. Awesome."

"How does it look? Is it okay? Do I look like a girl?" Sam asked.

"I just said it was awesome, didn't I?" Priestly shook his head and hopped down from the counter. "Have a look for yourself, man."

Sam looked in the mirror, and broke into a grin. He definitely looked different, but it was a surprisingly good different. "Oh, wow. That's so cool."

"See, man? Would I lead ya wrong?"

"Okay, okay, my faith is strong now," Sam said, laughing.

"So you gonna go show it off?"

"Oh yeah, Dean has to see this. I may have to get my camera first," Sam said, before grinning at Priestly. "Thank you, seriously."
