Priestly's apartment, New Gotham, Thursday afternoon

"Come on, Priestly!" Tia called through the door to Priestly's room. "You've gotta go out sometime!"

"I for one support Priestly's newfound interest in hermitage," Mark said. Tia ignored him with the ease borne of long practice.

"Priestly!"

The door cracked open, and Priestly peered out, Stevesie perched on his shoulders and peering over his head. "A) it's negative a billion degrees out. 2) the question mark guy is on the streets again. I'm not coming out until he's been arrested and it's spring."

Tia sighed. "You have classes."

"I can turn my assignments in online and the professors are video-podcasting the lectures."

"You have laundry," Tia tried.

"Not going outside means not needing clean clothes." Priestly smirked and started closing the door.

"I'm going to call Dinah on you!" Tia said quickly. The door stopped closing. After a moment, it opened up all the way.

"Dammit, Tia."

Tia smirked back, showing her phone in her hand, the screen already set to Dinah's number. "Come out and I won't have to." She looked him over and sighed. "And put some damn pants on."

"The docks, the Narrows, and... pretty much the places you'd usually avoid." Dinah hmm'd and reached for the door to the coffee place. "I'll send you a Mapquest with the red parts highlighted."

"It's nice of the bad guys to hang out in clearly designated areas."

"Isn't it?" Dinah gave him a blithe smile over her shoulder. "Except when they're hanging out in penthouses somewhere, then it gets all kinds of complicated."

"Penthouses? Man, all the real villains have abandoned warehouses."

"I know, right?! The supervillains of New Gotham are as corrupt as the system lets them be," Dinah grouched.

At this rate, she'd be joining Occupy Robinson Park or something. Or start up a communist party branch. Although punching bad guys was even better, so maybe not.

"One chai cocoa with cinnamon," she requested at the counter. "And his is on my tab." Her phone beeped, and she opened it up, frowning and texting really fast.

"Okay, that sounds awesome, I'm getting one of those," Priestly said, by way of ordering. "And an almond croissant."

"Ooo, chocolate croissant, that sounds good." Dinah shoved her phone in her pocket, then grinned at Priestly. "And then we can go run it off somewhere."

"Maybe," Priestly said. "Who're you texting?"

"That was Leo." Dinah grimaced. "I'm going to have to break another date with him. Or he's going to break one with me, maybe."

50/50 chance either way, really.

"Awwww. Not working out, huh?"

"It's not even personalities!" Dinah burst out. "Just, he's gone half the month doing band stuff. Which I get. But I'm super-busy with ...all my jobs, half the time. I think I've seen him only five times since Halloween. Things do not progress!" Ahem. "...emotionally speaking."

Priestly nodded. ". . . Is the other stuff still fun, though?"

"Yeah! I mean. He's fun to hang out with? He's easy-going. We haven't had any major fights." Dinah shrugged, frustrated, knowing it sounded like she was complaining about nothing.

Their drinks and croissants arrived, and Dinah paid, then headed for a booth by the window. "It's just. I dunno. Maybe I expect too much. Or I'm needy. Am I needy? Am I that chick?"

"Not to me?" Priestly shrugged. "But we have kind of a different kind of relationship." He tilted his head, looking at her. "Maybe where you're at right now, no emotional progress is what works. I mean, you guys aren't exclusive, are you? You could keep looking for an emotional progress guy and have fun with Leo at the same time. So long as you both know it's going on."

She sipped her drink, considering that, then said, "We hadn't actually talked about that yet...." But maybe? "It would help me feel better. Like I wasn't leading him on. Or about not telling him some stuff." Like a lot of stuff. "Maybe he'd be up for it?" It was a thought. "Maybe I should date a supervillain."

Kidding! Really. No, really! ... mostly.

"Helena had no room to throw stones, even if she has been with Reese forever. And Barbara--" Would have a meltdown, yes. "...never mind. So! My chances for a workplace romance are kinda nil. How about yours?"

"The diner?" Priestly made a face. "All the waitresses are either too young or have three kids. Not really my speed."

"Awww. I bet the young ones have crushes on you." Yep, of course they did. "You're probably their Trucker. Only not as old."

"Woah," Priestly said, mind blown. "That is way too much responsibility."

"You'll grow into it," Dinah said with a snicker, patting one of his boots with hers, and taking a bite of her croissant. "I didn't see Mark when I stopped by, is he hibernating the way you wanted to?"

"That would indicate a willingness to go outside during the day when it isn't winter." Priestly shrugged. "I think he might secretly be a vampire."
