Priestly's apartment, New Gotham, Thursday afternoon

"Come on, Priestly!" Tia called through the door to Priestly's room. "You've gotta go out sometime!"

"I for one support Priestly's newfound interest in hermitage," Mark said. Tia ignored him with the ease borne of long practice.

"Priestly!"

The door cracked open, and Priestly peered out, Stevesie perched on his shoulders and peering over his head. "A) it's negative a billion degrees out. 2) the question mark guy is on the streets again. I'm not coming out until he's been arrested and it's spring."

Tia sighed. "You have classes."

"I can turn my assignments in online and the professors are video-podcasting the lectures."

"You have laundry," Tia tried.

"Not going outside means not needing clean clothes." Priestly smirked and started closing the door.

"I'm going to call Dinah on you!" Tia said quickly. The door stopped closing. After a moment, it opened up all the way.

"Dammit, Tia."

Tia smirked back, showing her phone in her hand, the screen already set to Dinah's number. "Come out and I won't have to." She looked him over and sighed. "And put some damn pants on."

That would be Priestly's phone ringing. It was like she was psychic, or something.

"I am outside your house, drinking your coffeeeeee," Dinah sang out.

Tia's smirk only grew. Yeah, she knew who was on the other end of that call. She locked her phone and put it in her pocket as Priestly glared at her and shut his door again.

"Why on earth would you want to be outside?"

"Bad guys to find. Weather to beat into submission. Maybe it's the other way around. Come out here to drink your nice doctored coffee already."

"Oooooor you could come inside." That seemed like a much better idea. One that didn't involve twenty minutes of Priestly putting on every piece of clothing he owned.

"I will come inside for a bit if you come outside," Dinah bargained, heading for the front door. "Come on! There's snow!"

"That is not a way to get me outside." Priestly had gotten plenty of snow in Fandom. That snow had occasionally been literally magical. Snow in New Gotham was just piled up frozen water.

"Hey, remember that time our clothes disappeared out in the snow?" Dinah snickered, then cajoled as she started up the stairs, "It isn't even that cold outside. And I promise you can wear a bobble-hat to protect yourself. And drink coffee!"

"Coffee drinking can happen inside!" How was that not an easy concept to grasp? "By the time I got out there it'd be cold. It's probably already cold. Why would I want to drink cold coffee in the snow?"

"To get your blood moving before we go for a run."

Priestly beat his forehead a few times with his phone, causing Stevesie to squawk and try to swipe it away. "I'm sorry," he said when he put the phone back to his ear. "I must have misheard you. It sounded for a second like you wanted me to go for a run in the snow."

It was a good thing they were best friends who loved each other forever and ever, because Priestly was being kind of a dick right now.

"Priestly, the snow is not going to make you melt. I promise. It won't even give you an actual cold." Dinah exited the stairs on his floor, and said, "The coffee is still warm and I am outside your door. Open up."

Dinah, on the other hand, was the definition of that reasonable person who just wants you to get a little exercise. Really.

"Melting was not my concern." It was cold out. Priestly leaned out the door to the room. "Someone let Dinah into the apartment before she freezes! She's possibly cold-blooded and can't tell how cold it is!"

Tia snorted and went to open the front door.

"You're probably going to have to throw him over your shoulder and drag him outside yourself," she said.

Dinah pocketed her phone with a sigh. "And I'll do that, 'cause I am just that good a friend." She stamped a little snow off her boots and called out, "I will drink your coffee and then come in there and dress you if you don't come out!"

"I told you to put on pants!" Tia added.

Priestly came out -- wearing pants, yes (and long underwear and three shirts and a fashionable yet cozy scarf) -- folded his arms over his chest, and scowled. "I'm not going running."

Stevesie tried to climb from Priestly's shoulder onto his head, completely ruining any tough guy image he was trying to project.

"You've been in here for a week!" Dinah protested, reaching for Stevesie. "It's time to see life outside your apartment. You're never going to adapt if you just hiberate until May or whatever." Coffee, nice coffee, being offered to you with one hand, as the panda is lured in with the other.

Hey, that panda was warm, dammit! Priestly gave Stevesie and accusing look when the panda stretched his paws out towards Dinah in a toddlerish "pick me up!" move. "Traitor. Hibernating is a totally valid lifestyle choice," he said. "Especially when you can't migrate to warmer climates in the winter."

Dinah refrained from pointing out he could, because that would not help in the long term. She snuggled Stevesie and gave Priestly's outfit the once-over. "Okay, looks like you're mostly good. Boots. Jacket. Gloves. Hat. And it's a valid lifestyle choice if you're a sloth or a popsicle, and you're neither."

"Why would a popsicle hibernate?" Priestly asked, reaching for the coffee and making zero move for boots, jacket, gloves, or a hat. "They're supposed to be frozen."

"They stay in the dark and out of the outside world because it is their nature. You're a human." Dinah let him have the coffee, and scritched behind Stevesie's ear with a coo. "A human who is totally missing stuff, pleeeeeeeease come out and play with me, come on."

"There are bad guys out there," Priestly pointed out. "One of whom has literally actually kidnapped me before."

Dinah's shoulders hunched at that, and she looked around to see if Mark or Tia were listening. "That's not going to happen today. I will literally throw people into traffic if they try anything."

Reassuring, yet also slightly terrifying. "But if we stay in we don't have to cause any traffic accidents at all."

"I said please!" Dinah waved one of Stevesie's paws at him. "Stevesie agrees with me. 'Go outdoors, Priestly! Find the sunshine! Forage for goods and berries!'"

Snickering, she pointed imperiously to the hall closet. "Outdoor clothes. The Panda has spoken."
